Family businesses shape the country more than many people realize. A study by the Institute for SME Research states that over 90 percent of all German companies are family-run. They also provide around 60 percent of jobs subject to social security contributions and train more than half of all apprentices.
Without them, Germany as a business location would hardly be conceivable.
