Sand, gravel, cement, lime, feldspar, and soil place very different demands on suction and delivery hoses during daily use. In stationary systems, wear and deposits occur during the transport of abrasive bulk materials. In vacuum trucks and street sweepers, vacuum pressure, movement, changing media, and constant handling are added factors. It is therefore crucial to match the hose, material, and connection to the medium, process, and installation situation.
Different Applications, Different Requirements
For sand, gravel, and mineral raw materials, the focus is on high abrasion resistance and a material flow that is as uninterrupted as possible. Smooth inner surfaces can prevent particles from becoming unnecessarily lodged in the line. In suction processes, vacuum resistance is an additional consideration: The hose must retain its shape even under high negative pressure.
On construction sites and in mobile applications, the requirements shift. Bulk material PU hoses (PUR spiral hoses) convey soil, gravel, stones, sludge, or water while simultaneously following the movements of the suction arm. Here, abrasion resistance and vacuum resistance must be combined with sufficient flexibility. For street sweepers and municipal vacuum trucks, compressibility, low weight, and ease of handling also play an important role.
“There is no single hose that works for every abrasive application. It is crucial to consider the conveyed medium, the operating conditions, and the installation situation together. Only then can we determine which material, hose type, and connection combination truly make sense for the customer.”

Thinking About Hoses, Connections, and Applications as a Whole
Masterflex combines material expertise, hose design, and suitable connection technology to create application-specific solutions. Abrasion-resistant bulk material PU hoses (PUR spiral hoses), such as the Master-PUR Performance, or solutions for heavy-duty mobile suction tasks, such as the Master-PUR HX, are selected and designed according to the actual load.
