In semiconductor manufacturing, when corrosive chemicals are routed through high-purity processes, the hoses used must not interfere with the sensitive production. In paint shops, surfaces that come into contact with the paint must be cleaned quickly and thoroughly during color changes. And in fully automatic coffee machines, hoses are constantly exposed to hot water, steam, and pressure.
Three completely different applications, each with equally high demands, that only a few plastics can reliably and durably meet.
This is exactly where fluoropolymers come into play. Their high resistance to chemicals and corrosion, temperature stability, and non-stick surfaces make them ideal materials for technically demanding and sensitive processes.
In a recent interview with Wirtschaftsforum, APT Managing Director Martin Brück provides insights into this unique world of high-performance plastics. Under the title “The Connection Makes the Difference,” he discusses APT’s development, the special properties of fluoropolymers, and why material knowledge alone is not enough to ensure a reliable hose solution.
